Brian came with us on an outing to the Central Oregon Coast. Our first destination was Boiler Bay. The viewpoint had lots of cool rocks with several arches and holes in them.
And we got to watch several grey whales feeding off the point. This was only the second time I remember seeing whales off the coast in Oregon, even though they can be common.
Then some of us climbed down to Boiler Bay.
We wanted to search among the rocks for cool stuff.
Like the 1910 ship’s boiler that gives the bay its name. The boiler came to rest here after an explosion on a ship caused it to land here, while the ship sank just of the coast.
Magnus thought it was neat and then wanted to be a dinosaur:
We found some good tide pools with urchins and anemones.
We took in the view at Cape Foulweather and watched some more whales.
And ate lunch at Devil’s Punchbowl.
Then we wanted to play on a beach, so we went to Beverly Beach. I like it because you can find fossils there.
And it is a nice sandy beach.
It was a good day at the beach.
