Wahkeena to Multnomah

Dana went on a hike with Anton and one of his friends on the Wahkeena-Multnomah Loop. There was lots of cool things to see, including several waterfalls.

We started the hike at Wahkeena Falls and its beautiful cascade.

After climbing to top I found the old abandon trail to an old viewpoint at the top of the falls.

I also found Little Necktie Falls.

Further up the trail is Fairy Falls, one of my new favorites. It looks almost fake.

It is a pretty trail. I also found this very old sign.

Coming down the other side we passed Ecola Falls:

Then Wiesendanger Falls and Duchman Tunnel.

A cool little bridge and Upper Multnomah Falls

Then the look down the 635 foot drop of Multnomah Falls. It’s a long way down.

A very quick drop down the cliff using many switchbacks brought us to the newly restored Benson Bridge over the falls. The bridge had previously been damaged by a rock fall and is now open again.

Youth Boating Trip

Helping top drive the church youth to their boating activity on Lake Merwin came with the opportunity to ride on the boat. Magnus also enjoyed being on the fast, bumpy ride.

We got to watch several of the youth hold on tight for the tube rides.

Ruth also got the chance to ride on the next outing while I stayed with Gideon.

We had a great evening at the lake and are grateful we could help out as well.

Dog Creek Falls

July was hot and we are always looking for ways to keep cool, so we spent a day at Dog Creek Fall and played in the refreshingly cool water.

IMG_0329IMG_0334

It is not a very big waterfall, or a very deep stream, so it was perfect for small people.

We even got some nice pictures of the boys:

Afterwards we met up with Brian and had dinner at Big T’s (a delicious burger place in Stevenson).

The Fourth

We hope everyone had a good 4th of July. We celebrated by going and watching the Fort Vancouver Firework Show. We had fun being together such a good holiday.

Magnus got a bit crazy with the glow sticks.

Such pretty colors:

After the show we had a small one at home, including some sparklers.
