The wildflowers were in full bloom as we started our hike on the Indian Pits Trail on the eastern side of the Gorge. Anton, Amanda, and Brian also joined us on our Memorial Day adventure.
This short hike is a bit obscure, but it leads you to some ancient constructions on talus slopes. Though the true purpose of the pits is unknown, many believe them to be built by young natives on their rite of passage to adulthood. This site is also interesting because it has several walls as well.
Here are some of the pits.
And the large wall:
We had fun exploring the talus slope to see the different shape pits and walls.
Our next stop was Catherine Creek Arch. It was another beautiful little hike.
Going up behind the arch.
Ruth and the boys had fun sitting by the creek while we climbed.
We also did some quick stops at the Klickitat River Gorge and the Old Stone House.
