Day 2: Beaches and Mountains

We started our day by visiting the beach on the south side of Whidbey Island. We really like the beautiful round rocks you can find there. Gideon liked tasting those rocks. Magnus likes finding pieces of driftwood that look like things (he called this one the onion smasher).

We then took a ferry to Port Townsend, WA on the Olympic Peninsula.

We looked for rocks at Fort Worden SP.

We stopped at the Troll House where there are several large carvings of trolls, including these holding up a barn.

From Port Angeles, we took the 18 mile road up to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic NP. There are some very nice views along the way. From this spot you could see Canada across The Strait of Juan de Fuca.

By the time we reached the top we were in the clouds. The short trail we walked still had snow in several places. The mountains were very pretty.

We then drove to Forks for the night.
