Beacon Rock Camping

IMG_3529

Camping with my brother, Anton, and some of his Young Mens group at Beacon Rock SP. It was a very nice night to do it. Anton needed another adult to come, and I was happy I was able to go.

That night I went out looking for fun things. Here are some of them:

The next day was beautiful. I had to get back to town, but Anton met some other leaders and they did a hike. On my way home I did make a few quick stops. Here is Beacon Rock from near the campground.

I read about this little known place called Nellie Corser, owned by Fish and Wildlife. It was really pretty. It was a little creek, running through a deep gorge. This made several little waterfalls and pools. It looks like a great place to spend an afternoon.

I also read about this old stone house, hidden among the trees. It was pretty cool.

And I stopped to look at Cape Horn from below. The colors were amazing with all the new growth:

The Hood River Venture

IMG_3440

Hood River Valley is famous for its vast orchard land. We went out hoping to drive the Fruit Loop (the scenic drive among the flowering trees), but when we finally had a free day, we were too late. But the valley was still very pretty and we had fun hanging out in Panorama Point Park. Ruth relaxed, Magnus ran around, Dana looked for bugs (and found a pseudoscorpion, cool). (Magnus took this picture of Dana)

IMG_3470 Can you find the lizard?

We met up with our friend Brian, who works in Hood River, for dinner. In town, we found this neat fountain. Magnus liked the bronze fish in the fountain.

We also walked around the Columbia River Hotel’s gardens. This is Wah Gwin Gwin Falls:

They have very nice grounds:

We will leave you with Magnus in a tree:

Tulip Time

Tulip Festival in Woodland 2013. We again had fun wandering the tulip fields and test garden, marveling at the amazing variety. Magnus liked helping pick some tulips for Farmor’s birthday. It was a good day.
