Our Apartment

For those of you who have not (and for those who have) been to our new apartment, some pictures.

Our front door has yellow glass in it. It matches the linoleum in the entranceway.

The couch we’re borrowing from Dana’s dad. The tables we got for free. Yay!

Our computer area.

IMG_3645

Our entertainment center (also Dana’s Dad’s).

IMG_3647

This is my favorite part: the reading room. When we get our stuff, there will be more bookcases and a beanbag chair (maybe?)

 IMG_3650 IMG_3653

The dinning room. Dana got these candlesticks for his birthday. I think he’s still sorry (but I love them!)

IMG_3648 This is our back porch.

 IMG_3654 IMG_3655

The kitchen. The countertops are new as is the linoleum. Very boring.

IMG_3659 Our hallway leads from the living room to the bathroom.

 IMG_3660 IMG_3661

The extra bedroom and the reason it’s the extra bedroom: the water heater is in this closet!

IMG_3666 IMG_3669

Our bedroom. Our nice air mattress (also Thanks Dana’s Dad!),

IMG_3667 and the reason this is our bedroom: The nice walk-in closet.

 IMG_3670 IMG_3671

The bathroom. The toilet works. We’re fans.

There you go. Now you’ve practically been here. It’ll all look different in a few weeks when we get all our own stuff in it. So you’ll have to come see us for realz. I’m not taking more pictures. ;-)

Zoo Blog

The Joy of Zoo is an epic journey around the world, found in the confines of the Oregon Zoo, presented in the space of a blog.

I have now had a chance to start it and welcome anyone to explore the animal world from bugs to ugly-scrunchy rat things to majestic elephants. The link is on our side bar…

Staring into the Crater (and a bug)

STE_5248 Stitch

Greetings from Washington. On the 14th we had the chance to go up to Johnston Ridge at Mt. St. Helens. This is the first time we have been back since the summer we got married 4 years ago, and the first chance we have had to go up this year for the 30th anniversary. I have been wanting to visit, but the weather has been cloudy so long. (This is also the clearest I have ever seen it).

We had a great time walking around Johnston Ridge and seeing the mountain. I also found some cute little tiger beetles.

There were a lot of flowers out as well. After 30 years the remains of trees are getting harder to see in some places as more plants take hold.

It was also fun to see the difference that you can see in the crater itself. Back in 2004, Mt St Helens had several eruptions that over the course of a few years built a huge new dome in the crater. Here is a very similar view of the crater from the last three times I have been:

Kind of crazy how the crater can change so much. Stay tuned for some pictures of our new apartment…

Recent Goings-on OR Sorry we've been lame bloggers...

So July has been eventful for us and August promises to be none less-so. Here is what we've been up to:

The 4th of July was a Sunday, so we went to church. That was fun. Dana had to go to work but we both made it back to our apartment (oh yeah, we got our own apartment! Another post) in time for our new neighbors to shower us with delicious food. We live pretty close to Fort Vancouver now, so we walked a few blocks and watched the last half of the fireworks show from the street. We came back to our complex and watched our neighbors light fireworks in the parking lot.

Our 4-year anniversary as on the 8th. Dana had to work that day, so I went to the zoo with him and wandered around all day. His co-worker gave me a free elephant ear. Woohoo! Here is an elephant enjoying a drink (it was hot!):

Yesterday Dana had a day off work, we went to Mt. Saint Helens. I'm afraid my lappy is grossly unprepared with pictures, but maybe we'll add some more to this post later.

Keeping that in mind, Dana has decided to start a zoo blog. As he works at the Oregon Zoo in Portland, he gets to see lots of animals. His zoo blog is going to have a picture of all the animals at the zoo. The link is at the left. it's called the Joy of Zoo.
